Is it a Rat?
If it smells like a Rat and looks like a Rat….then it is a Rat!
I was recently on a ‘site’ on my computer that offered more information if I signed up and paid money to read more than I could before, about a particular product.
My mind reached back a few decades when pyramid selling was all the go. And I smelt a Rat.
The saying about smelling like a Rat goes back to an olde English poet in 1540.
I could tell you all about it, and I’m happy to do so as long as you pay me. Or you can be like me and look it up on a search engine on your electronic device. Whatever way you choose, it is going to cost you money to get the answer!
One could choose to speak to someone from an older generation who would be happy to chat  freely about it.
