Remember me?

What is the legacy you want to leave behind?

I want people to remember me for how I treated them. I grew up in a family where the wrong attitude was instilled in me. It didn’t matter what I did in life  my Father had this  saying..’ You’re not as good or clever as your sisters’.And when I entered senior classes at school, the teachers who’d previously taught my sisters said,’ You’re not smart like your sisters’.

So I suffered from low self esteem and acceptance of myself.

I was born with some facial disabilities so people made fun of me and laughed.

Rolling many years forward, I joined the Salvation Army ( church) and learnt who I was through God. He accepted me as I was, not for all the putdowns I’d lived with through the years .

I realised I could be there for other people who have suffered like I did . I listen to them, I encourage them I tell them how valued they are…all the things I never experienced whilst I was growing up.

Be kind  and loving, and be understanding, but most of all, let them tell their story and value what they say.

I call it ‘planting seeds of wisdom’ to give them tools to go forward in life.
