Share five things you’re good at.
Gosh you want me to share 5 things that I am good at, that’s a bit difficult. It depends on who my audience is as to what I share!
I’m extremely good at stuffing things up in my life. One would think a 70+ something would finally have worked out the best track in life, but I haven’t.
I could probably write a book about all the things ” I’m not good at…” because that is the catch phrase that has dragged me down, suffocated me.. and spat me out …all my life.
I was born with what I considered to be minor disabilities but because I didn’t look exactly the same as other humans…the whole world….well it seemed like that to me – – felt it was their right to tell me from my first breath that I looked different to others.. to my sisters.
I was born with an eyelid problem where the muscles in my eyelids were too long and too weak to raise themselves up so I could see like other people. There was nothing wrong with my eye sight.but to see I had to tilt my head back and I could see out of my dropped eyelids.
You try it sometime close your eyes and tilt your head back and you will be able to see the world as I did…
So I was clumsy and moody and sad and angry with the world because people constantly made fun of me. They imitated how I had to look to see.
They laughed at me and put objects in front of me so I often fell over. Life was difficult. People told me I was NOT GOOD ENOUGH AND I WOULD NEVER AMOUNT TO ANYTHING. Yes all through my growing years ..my schooling years.. my first job. I only got that job because I stood up for myself when the manager of the business said oh your school reports are all right for the work but we won’t be able to employ you because you’ve ” got funny eyes”! Heck I wasn’t going to be working in a beauty parlour and I wouldn’t be working where customers would see me… I straightened that guy up.
I said’ take off your glasses and come and look down the street and tell me the time on the Town Clock’… His reply without his glasses on, ‘ I cannot even see the Town Clock without my glasses.’
Humph, I said and you think I’ve got funny eyes. Yes I got the job.
So back to the topic 5 things I’m good at…I will tell you 5 things I enjoy doing and that is creating something homemade whether it be some food I’ve cooked or something I’ve created with my own hands craft things like birthday cards etc.
I think I’m good at taking photos of clouds and sunsets.
I enjoy listening to other people tell their stories of life of being pushed down or out of things in their lives.
I like writing stories and blogs about my day to day events.
And last of the 5 I like to sing loudly when no one is listening….
I’ve told my story now and you have probably guessed I suffer with low self-esteem so asking me what I’m GOOD at is too challenging for me to fathom.
End of post. I’m here to learn how to be a better communicator.
