Crime against Others.

If you could un-invent something, what would it be?

In real life crime is part of society and apart from execution there doesn’t seem to be a way to prevent people from re offending but what if our brains could be rewired to only be kind and truthful to each other.

Yes I  can hear you saying only in the science fiction section of the book department. Well the old saying of prevention is better than cure in crime prevention.

Most of the experiences we have in life are shown or taught to us as babies and young children. So I believe society would be a safer place if strong parenting attributes were put in place. We all learn at a very young age that if we touch the stove whilst it is on we will burn ourselves and most times a child only has to do this a couple of times before they release it is not a good thing to do. I’m sure instilled behaviours of right from wrong would go a long way to reduce Crime. Also over the centuries some criminal behaviours resulted in the person losing a hand or fingers as punishment.

I believe a psychological approach is a better way to go..Like I’ve already stated discipline in the home, a loving family environment, a supportive community and neighbourhood system where the immediate family is not the only person instilling parenting behaviours.

A ban on electronic media devices that show games of violence and misadventure. I grew up reading cartoons about someone blowing up some  animal…”The Road Runner” cartoon.. beep beep but did that make me into a criminal where I went out and  inflicted harm on other people? Definitely not because as a child I was taught right from wrong and damaging someone else’s property or inflicting harm on them was not the way forward in life.

If you look at some of the smaller populated countries of the world like Iceland or Japan you will see they have a lower crime rate than other countries.

Communities working together for the common good of all people appears to be the answer.
