Aaarh Leisure Time.

Leisure time comes at a price. Do I do all my chores that are supposed to be done? Or do I grab that book that I want to finish and read it now..

I am what some people call a ‘multi-tasker’ often found in a woman but rarely in a man! Hubby quite often says, “Why do you juggle about 6 things that need to go back in the refrigerator now?  Couldn’t you take 2 or 3 at a time?”

Men, you’ve got to love them, but their brains are definitely not wired the same as a woman’s brain.

I do it to save time, but I do not normally answer him because it just starts a disagreement.

Back to reading books. I’ve always read books, and my dear Mother, who is resting in Heaven, reminded me of this very fact a few years ago when I telephoned her excitedly to tell her I’d got a job in the bookstore of a large business where I worked. She paused when I told her, and I couldn’t hear anything through the phone – so I waited, gave a little cough, and waited some more.. then I said,’ Are you still there? Is everything OK? I thought you’d be excited about me working in a bookstore when I LOVE books so much?’

She replied “Well I was just remembering back to when you were born 50 years ago, and you were 10 days late showing yourself to the world!! Well, I reckon you had a book in there then..having a little read, eh!”

“Oh, Mum, I said, that’s so funny. How would I remember that far back, and how would the book get in there? “

Yes so back to the question of my leisure time. I’ve always been a bit of an artist and enjoyed drawing on any piece of scrap paper I could find..just doodles, nothing major;  pictures of flowers or cats or dogs or landscape pictures with hills and sunsets and trees.

I thought I got that habit from my father because he drew animals on the concrete floor in charcoal in our milking shed.

See, I grew up in the country on a farm.  I never ever saw my Mum draw or scribble whilst waiting on the phone,  but after our Father died, our Mum took up art, and she was quite good at it.

So, not only did I enjoy drawing pictures, but I also wrote stories to go with the pictures. My grandkids really got a giggle out of their books!

So other things I love about leisure time involve the ‘great outdoors’ where one can freely gaze at nature or the clouds passing by overhead.

I love taking photos, too, but that would be another story. On another day, but now it’s time to get back to those household chores! I think I’ve used up my leisure time.

What do you enjoy doing most in your leisure time?
