I’m not sure I actually use this item, but I have a small round rattan cane table made in 1920 that my grandmother owned. It reminds me of my dear grandmother and the hardships she faced during her life. She used to display photographs on it.
It sits in the corner of our lounge room covered with an heirloom cross stitched cloth.
Our cat used to get up on a foot stool nearby and jump onto the table and just sit there smiling…
No one is allowed to use the table, so it annoyed me that the cat thought she ‘ had rights’ to sit on the table. She would growl if I tried to chase her away from the table.
Our cat passed away last year, and we had her cremated, so now a beautiful wooden box sits on our precious table with her ashes inside.
Maybe the cat was trying to tell me something.
Here she is sitting on the foot stool near the table.

What’s the oldest thing you own that you still use daily?
