What do you listen to while you work?

Work for me is just your ordinary everyday household chores. When I lived alone, in quite a large house I had a radio at the front of the house and in the living area of the house as well as down stairs where I could hear the sound of the radio. I was a fan of Talkback Community Shows where people would discuss issues that concerned them or important things that were happening around the world.

Now that I am married, I prefer the sound of silence because my husband watches TV 24/7, and he is up most of the night watching reruns of shows from the ’50s or ’60s..

So whilst I’m doing ‘ the women’s work’ cleaning, laundry, washing up the dishes, doing the garden, I find it relaxing just to block out what is happening around me and conjur up some more stories that I love to write. I belong to a writing group where a topic, a word count- and a time is set and off one goes..there is no prizes just the reward of your own work  that you completed something that not a lot of people do or are capable of doing.

One of the more notable things of this particular group is that there is no LIKE button.. Yeh I say..down with the like button that  so many people absent-mindedly click. No, in the group Deadline for Writers, when one signs up, you have to agree to critique at least 4 entries..so it’s a whole lot of fun..

Another reason I like the sound of silence I can hear the birds sing their songs outside my windows..so that is the only sound that breaks the silence.
