If you could permanently ban a word from general usage, which one would it be? Why?
If I could permanently ban a word from general usage, it would be the word LIKE…Why? What’s there to LIKE about the word? Especially in electronic media conversation LIKE is my pet DISLIKE.
LIKE is just an excuse type of word where one does not really have a genuine opinion about what they have just read.
It is downright depressing to get a notification on this platform or Facebook or Instagram or Substack or wherever one writes a little..and someone just reads it and hits the LIKE button…WHY?…
Are you too busy to write a small comment on the article you’ve just read?
Do you feel it will make the person happy because you hit the LIKE button?
Do you think it is a sure way to get others to follow you if you hit the LIKE button?
Is it programmed into WordPress or Jetpack that the LIKE button is pressed if someone opens up your page??
Well I do not LIKE it!!
I’m sure I’m not alone on here!
I’m rather new at writing on a blog site and maybe I’m on the wrong site and being oversensitive, but I want to see a little more action and reaction from fellow readers, show a little respect and support for.each other.
I know Kevin has lots of followers, and he has left a comment on my posts but very few other people are willing to type a few words.
Please don’t all be ‘show ponnies’ ..please take the time to read my posts and leave a comment…and then I can thank you by typing ‘Like if I like’…but do not hit the LIKE button please.
It increases my anxiety and makes me feel very unloved in a community I joined to feel accepted and understood.
Last week, I received many, many .. far too many LIKES (121) for the words I wrote & 2 comments.
Yes I am a sensitive type of person who does not approve of the word LIKE.
