Name change??

Well I love the name my Mum chose for me and she won hands down…my name is Marilyn.

My father wanted to call me Madeline, which might be popular now but not over 70 years ago, and my grandfather wanted to name me Margwyn!

So, I’m glad I had  a strong willed Mum. My two older sisters ended up with unusual names that our mum picked out of a book, but no one could ever spell correctly.

Our family name (surname) was one, I struggled with people who spelled it incorrectly or pronounced it wrong, totally annoyed me.

I have a different last name now, but my surname was Whitfield…pronounced

Whit … Field, but people insisted on calling out Whitefield..yes they added an e after Whit changing our name that was important to us.. I’m sure if your name was Smith and they called out Smythe, you wouldn’t like it either…

I’m met people who had the Whitfield name and  we weren’t related to who said that was their ‘pet peve’ as well… Whit field not

White field – pretty simple.

Like they say, it’s only a name!

If you had to change your name, what would your new name be?
